A Gringo's view of Colombia.

Many of the scenes described actually were experienced by me. The sharp, frequently jarring distinction between the wealthy and poor play out regularly in Colombia. The images remained burned into my brain and became the basis for La Escopetarra. The warmth of family juxtaposed against the harsh realities of living in an area where life means so little to others was illustrated beautifully by the image of the guitar/gun, La Escopetarra. The lead vocalist, Dana Paul did an exceptional job in capturing the poignant, almost operatic tone inherent in the way I tried to express the agonizing dichotomy of a culture in constant flux.
